Dr. Robert Blackgrove is a licensed clinical psychologist living and practicing in Miami, Florida. Having resided all over the U.S. and overseas, Dr. Blackgrove has an appreciation for a wide diversity of cultural backgrounds and ways of life. He is comfortable with people from all parts of the world and with different belief systems. It is no wonder that he has chosen Miami as his home, being drawn to the cultural diversity, friendly people and tropical climate of South Florida. Dr. Blackgrove has over twelve years of mental health, assessment, and treatment experience, including individual, couples, and family therapy. He is experienced in working with a wide variety of mental disorders, emotional difficulties and relationship problems. Dr. Blackgrove also enjoys working with clients who are not experiencing any significant problems, but would like to enhance their quality of life and functioning. Therapeutic modalities incorporated include cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution oriented therapy, family systems therapy, and strategic therapy with psychodynamic underpinnings. Dr. Blackgrove uses a blend of therapeutic strategies when working with children and adolescents, including the use of play therapy and modern games and activities to help reach today’s youth. Dr. Blackgrove has been using psychological testing instruments since 1992 in a variety of treatment settings. Through his experience working with patients, suffering from various neurological, psychological, and orthopedic conditions, he has gained a familiarity and flexibility with assessment that helps to put clients at ease and provides them with meaningful and useful data. Dr. Blackgrove brings a blend of skills and knowledge to help his clients answer questions about their intellectual capacities, strengths, weaknesses, personality dynamics, coping styles, interpersonal style, career interests, and approaches toward relationships. He provides adult, child, and adolescent assessment for IQ, gifted placement, Mensa placement, personality, learning disabilities, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, diagnosis, treatment planning, psychological evaluations and couples/relationship therapy enhancement. Dr. Blackgrove has worked as a psychological consultant for television and radio, and has provided consultation services to businesses and corporations to assist with employee selection, advancement, hiring, and executive selection decisions. Dr. Blackgrove is a couple’s therapist and a certified sex therapist. Couples therapy and sex therapy are compatible treatment modalities that can be utilized in conjunction with one another to fully address modern couples relationship issues. Treatment for erectile dysfunction, low sexual desire, premature ejaculation, sexual paraphilias, and compulsive sexual behavior are but a few of covered areas. Dr. Blackgrove has helped many couples enhance their closeness, intimacy and sense of satisfaction. Dr. Blackgrove is an active member of the American Psychological Association. He was an adjunct faculty member of Nova Southeastern University, and provides supervision to doctoral students and residents. He also maintains involvement in increasing awareness and support for social and psychological issues within the community.
