Ms. Wald also interned in the North Philadelphia school system, where she conducted group, individual, and family counseling with high risk children and adolescents. Following her internships, Ms. Wald worked at Comhar Outpatient Services, a dual diagnosis facility, where she instituted and ran the outpatient children’s program. She also worked as a staff outpatient therapist counseling adolescents and adults with a wide range of mental health issues such as bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety disorders, gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender issues, attention deficit disorder, family violence and sexual violation, drug and alcohol abuse, and juvenile delinquency. After returning to Miami, Ms. Wald worked for two years at Children’s Psychiatric Center providing individual, family, and group counseling, as well as art and play therapy. She then ran the Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus counseling department for two years. At MDC, Ms. Wald provided students with individual and couples counseling and conducted workshops on issues pertinent to students, such as test taking anxiety and stress reduction. Since joining The Counseling Group in 2008, Ms. Wald has devoted her practice to providing clients with a wide range of approaches to aid in their healing process. When working with children and adolescents, Ms. Wald includes the parents to help develop a comprehensive behavior modification plan usable both at home and at school. With adult clients, Ms. Wald uses cognitive behavioral therapy, rational emotive therapy, as well as relaxation, meditation, and breathing techniques. These methods help reduce symptom severity and effectively empower individuals to work through the issues that are affecting their lives. Although she works with clients with many different types of issues, Ms. Wald specializes in the areas of attention deficit disorder, learning disorders, post traumatic stress disorder, family/relationship problems, LGBT issues, codependency, depression, and anxiety disorders. Ms. Wald encourages her clients to live up to their highest potential by empowering them to find their own emotional strength. As a very solution focused therapist, Ms. Wald works with her clients to heal the wounds of their past and to work through their present issues in a warm, nurturing, and non-judgmental manner.
